Seminar for users of DWA Topics T4/2016 also in 2020

The user seminar on DWA Topics volume "Design of wastewater treatment plants in hot and cold climates" was again offered by the DWA: on 25./26. March 2020 in Bad Vilbel near Frankfurt am Main. Information on the programme can be found in the DWA event flyer (PDF, 760 KB, in German language). However, the seminar had to be cancelled due to Corona restrictions.

Seminars on software tools for the new design approaches in 2019

Thanks to a BMBF grant, free software tools for the application of the new design approaches of the DWA T4 / 2016 topic has been made available as an open web version and as an extension library for SIMBA#. The tools were presented in two seminars: On 30.01.2019 an expert workshop took place in Bochum on the basis of a preliminary version. On 12.11.2019, a user seminar took place within the closing event of the underlying development project "EXPOPLAN".

English translation of DWA Topic T4/2016 published

The English translation of the DWA Topics volume "Design of wastewater treatment plants in hot and cold climates" has been available since June 2019. The English version is available directly from the DWA, see the DWA-Shop

Seminars for users of the new DWA Topic T4/2016 in 2017 and 2018

As the DWA seminar in November 2017 was heavily overbooked, in 2018 another seminar for the application of the new design rules publishesd in DWA Topic T4/2016 took place in Kassel. For information about the programme see the DWA-Veranstaltungsflyer (PDF, 140 KB, in German language).

Closing event to the EXPOVAL Joint Project was held on 05./06.10.2016 in Essen

The closing event of the EXPOVAL Joint Project with lectures about the developed design approaches, further investigations and the presentation of the projected DWA Topics issue “Design of wastewater treatment plants in hot and cold climatic zones” was held on 05./06.10.2016 in Essen. EXPOVAL presentations at the IFAT 2016 trade fair in Munich

On the occassion of the Innovation Forum staged by the DBU, BMBF and DWA during the IFAT 2016 there was presentations about the EXPOVAL Joint Project and the projected DWA Topics monograph. The presentations in German language can be downloaded as PDF here... (German site)

Status seminar themed "Transfer orientation of German wastewater technology - design, implementation, new trends" on 01./02. 10.2015 in Hannover

During the BMBF-sponsored status seminar the specific constraints for the design of wastewater treatment plants in different parts of the world as well as first results of the EXPOVAL Joint Project regarding the expansion of German design rules for wastewater facilities has been discussed. The conference with more than 130 participants was held in German language. You will find detailed information about the conference here... (German site).

Current work sessions

Regularly throughout the project duration coordination sessions or sessions of the project-related DWA working group BIZ-11.3 “Design of wastewater treatment plants in hot and cold climatic zones” are to be held, see Dates. At these sessions, inter alia, the worldwide investigation sites are to be determined and agreement is to be reached on the execution of the various research tasks and the structuring of the DWA monograph. For further information, the Overall Coordinator will be pleased to provide assistance.

EXPOVAL session at the FONA Forum in Berlin on 23.10.2012

The EXPOVAL Joint Project established under the BMBF Framework Programme: “Research for Sustainable Development” (FONA) has been presented at the BMBF-initiated 9th BMBF Sustainability Forum with its own lecture block (4 presentations).

Constituent session of the project-related DWA working group BIZ-11.3 on 22.10.2012

The constituent session of the newly-established DWA BIZ-11.3 working group on “the design of sewage treatment plants in hot and cold climatic zones” was held in Berlin on 22.10.2012. Persons involved in all EXPOVAL Subgroups and also other external experts have been envisaged as its designated members. One of the working group’s major objectives is to be the preparation of a DWA monograph on the design of sewage treatment plants in hot and cold climatic zones; the results of the EXPOVAL project are also to be incorporated into this monograph.

Visit of the BMBF Parliamentary State Secretary to the Passavant Geiger project partner organization

On 02.08.2012, the Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Dr. Helge Braun, informed himself about the research project during a visit to the EXPOVAL project partner organization Passavant-Geiger GmbH at Aarbergen. Passavant-Geiger is working in Subgroup 2, aeration technology, in collaboration with the Darmstadt University of Technology, both on the extension of the design approaches and on ways of increasing the efficiency of submerged diffuser systems. Presentations at the Innovation Forum on 10.05.2012 during the IFAT ENTSORGA 2012 trade fair

As part of the Water Resources Industry Innovation Forum staged by the DBU, BMBF and DWA during the IFAT ENTSORGA 2012 on the topic of “sewage treatment plants in various climatic regions”, the results of the EXPOVAL predecessor project were presented in three lectures (covering trickling filters, activated sludge plants and wastewater ponds), a survey of the newly-launched projects also being given.

1st coordination session in Essen on 23.10.2012

The Joint Project’s first joint event took place in Essen on 22.03.2012, being attended by representatives of all the subprojects, the project management agency, and the DWA. The execution of the project, focal activities of the various Subgroups in terms of content, investigation sites, engineering boundary conditions, and the next operating stages, etc., were jointly discussed and agreed on.
